About us

Established in 2005, Aussie Candle Supplies is the most experienced and the largest supplier of soy specific candle supplies in Australia. We offer a large comprehensive range of glassware, waxes, wicks, dyes, fragrances, essential oils, body care products, equipment and advice. First established as a candle making company and the first importers and distributors of soy wax in the country, our knowledge and advice is second to none;

After reading some literature on cheap paraffin Chinese candles we decided to find a healthier alternative. Our research led us to a new type of vegetable candle wax called soy wax, just what we were looking for. We searched the whole of Australia for this wax but it was only available in the USA.

We contacted the inventor of this wax and bought some over to use ourselves in our home. We had absolutely no knowledge of candle wax let alone candle making and looking back on it now we must have been crazy. Once we had the wax we quickly realised Australia had nothing else either in terms of suitable wicks or fragrances or even glass to put the wax into. We ended up importing these items in as well in small quantities.

And so we began candle making. There was no one to ask, no one to advise how much wax to melt down for a jar, no one to tell us to use this size wick otherwise it’s not going to burn. Our learning curve over the next 6 months was absolutely huge and we spent the whole of this time testing and figuring out all the little nitty gritty details to try and get a candle that burnt correctly.

It was then we also decided to start selling some and built a website. Slowly but surely the candles started to sell and gradually we received more and more enquiries from hobbyists who wanted to know where they could also buy this soy wax. We started selling off little amounts of our own stock until we were selling more of our stock than we were the actual candles. We split the candle company in half and Aussie Candle Supplies was born. The rest they say is history!

We are not corporate, we do not have share holders. We are everyday people who work hard and want to pass on their love of this hobby. We've done the hard work for you so all you have to do is make candles.
